Car Scrapping Hampshire FAQs
Here are some of the main questions we are regularly asked at Scrap My Car Hampshire.
Why don't you pay cash?
Paying cash for scrap cars became illegal in 2013 with the amendment of scrap metal legislation. In line with this, we now pay either by cheque or a same day bank transfer (BACS).
Are there any hidden charges?
There are none at all - collection of your car is free and there are no administration charges.
Can I claim back my unused car tax?
Yes, you can, providing there is more than one month left to run. Visit www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-refund to make a claim.
What do I need to provide at the time of collection?
Car keys, V5 Logbook, any paper work you have, locking wheel nut key for alloy wheels.
Does my vehicle need to be complete?
No, it doesn't need to be complete but please bear in mind that the price offered will be lower if substantial parts like the engine or alloy wheels have been removed.
Do you collect in the evening and at weekends?
We can collect vehicles early evening or at any time over the weekend - whenever it's more convenient for you.
What areas do you cover?
Southern Hampshire. Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport, Southampton - all places between. See full list on the right hand side of this page.
What if my car is a non-runner?
Here at Scrap My Car Hampshire we operate recovery trucks with 5 ton winches, so we can easily and safely load any vehicle from your premises.
